Dana Pruner, LMT
Licensed Massage Therapist
During my ten years working in the field of Human Services in Montana, Seattle, and Alaska, I realized how emotional and physical trauma and stress can create physical resistance and chronic dysfunction in the body. I had always been drawn to helping people in a therapeutic capacity, but it wasn’t until I made the choice to follow my intuition and begin a study of Massage Therapy that I found my true calling.
I am a graduate of the University of Alaska Anchorage Massage Therapy Program and have been practicing for 10 years. My approach to massage is a fluid style and intelligent integration of Swedish and/or Deep Tissue, Myofascial release, pregnancy massage, Jin Shin Do acupressure, PNF stretching, trigger point therapy, and neuromuscular therapy. Clients can be assured that they will leave a session feeling nurtured, supported, and met with respect and compassion. My massage space is always a safe container for clients to relax, receive and feel free from any agenda or judgment.
In my “past life” I have been a jewelry designer, preschool teacher, special education teaching assistant, speech therapy assistant, therapeutic specialist for emotionally disturbed children and group home supervisor for adults with developmental disabilities….some of the greatest teachers that I have ever had! I always have been, and remain, someone who needs to create…I currently spend much spare time photographing my world, writing about it and creating mixed media art.
What do you love most about Alaska?
What I love most about Alaska is the vast playground that it offers! It is a WONDERLAND for people who like to play outside! My family and I enjoy getting out in it running, hiking, skiing, fishing, kayaking, and biking.
Guilty (or not so guilty) Pleasure
When I need to recharge, I LOVE snuggling up with my cats and favorite blanket on our cozy couch for some serious napping in the sun streaming in through our large windows. If a family member joins…even better!
